The silent revolution in the countryside and the seas

Nor can there be any understanding of the primary sector without the female contribution.

Women driving tractors, in charge of cattle or farms and dragging nets through the sea are not one-offs. They never have been. But it is true that we are seeing the beginnings of visibilisation and acknowledgement of women's work in the countryside and at sea. Female breeders, farmers, shellfish gatherers and fisherwomen are demanding their place in the primary sector, and not only as part of the workforce, but also as managers of enterprises and organisations.

The female revolution is upon us. It has already started, and it may be silent, but it is yearning to make some noise.
